I know nothing about RPi 2 but it has a quad core proc so it may not have the same limitations of RPi 1 that is restricted to armhf (hard float) target.
Current version of mono is v3.20 for linux, v3.12 for debian and only 3.2.8 for RPi v1. Some new features of framework 4.5 like async tasks are harder to implement without parallel processing.
Do you run the same Raspbian version on RPi 2 that on RPi 1? If it's the case I guess that would lead to a great lack of performance. What is your version of mono?
