Hi, Im having problems with the stability of the switch i want to use it to turn on/off the small led light. I have already put the PCB in the wall and found out the problem. Next to the IoT "switch" i have another standard wall switch for different light. The situation is that when i turn the different switch on / of the esp is changing the state and switches my led lamp on or of. I found out that the GPIO input used for manual switch is too sensitive. Even touching it with the finger or voltometer probe changes it state. Any ideas how to modify the circuit to eliminate such disturbances? What can cause it? The GPIO is pulled up using 1k resistor. Please help. If something is unclear i can answer any questions. I can also share the wiring diagram and pcb layout i created for this project.

Hello everyone, A small thing I came across today when messing around with my wifi router: I had to pull the plug on the wifi and after powering it up again, the ESP8266 seemed to be 'lost' for connection. I had to power off the circuit before it could find the wifi again. Anyone can confirm this? Might be an issue with the router. This is something to consider if you would conceal the circuit into a enclosed space without having the possibility to 'reset' it. Cheers, Filip

Hello everyone, I had the same issues when using the 1.6.7 Arduino IDE. So after installing the 1.6.5 and the libraries of course, everything worked like a charm! Perfect little project for home automation. I did a quick power consumption calculation and the circuit used about 0.23Watts of continuous power. So on a yearly basis, this is like 0.23*24*365/1000 = 2 kWh or about 50 eurocents a year in my case. Cheers, Filip

Hi, I just copied and pasted the code to Arduino IDE with NodeMCU 0.9 board configuration (or generic ESP). Also installed the esp-mqtt library . While compiling I get errors. Tryed to fix, but I realized its not one error - so I guess the problem is in my side... Can you help ? First error is at line 64: loadConfig(); was not declared in this scope. (When I move loadConfig() function before the setup() function... it moves to the next error...) -------- Solution for this problem: Oh... Spent some time to find out that Arduino IDE 1.66 and 1.67 has serious problems with the MQTT library (and maybe others... I don't know). Went back to Arduino 1.65 IDE and... now it compiles.... Still doesn't work from different reasons (client disconnected with exception 9) Here is a topic about Arduino 1.66/1.67 issue and how to go back to 1.65 and the right way... http://iot-playground.com/forum/my-project/497-error-in-ide#2615

I just do not get it !!! I was playing with this setup a couple of days ago. I am using a ESP8266-14 Developmentboard. Everything worked to perfection. Module was created, Control worked both local and from computer and Android device. And now NOTHING !!! just nothing works anymore ??? I can see that when I activate the local button, the output switches, but I have no connection to EasyIoT, module does not get created. I tried another module, downloaded the code again, tried with and without the changes. I even made a new account to see if that could help. But no mather what I do not get any module in the UI. I tried some of the other examples and they work well. Anybody got any idea of what could be wrong here ? I am desperate and out of ideas and patience  :-x PLEASE....

Do this at your own risk Hooked one of these up to a relay connected to a lamp and kept turning it on and off at random while the wife was reading. So she says lamp is pooched and I say I will fix it. Don’t even go near it but do a “magic” gesture at it while hitting the relay button on the phone behind my back. Get a curious look the first time but she knows that men have magic fingers (be clean here). Second time same deal but now she is very curious and complains about the fix not sticking. Extra magic gestures and wants to know how I do it. Don’t tell her anything and wait much longer between hitting the relay button. So I get the “you need to fix this properly”. Now I throw in that I have run out of magic and only a B.J. can fix my mojo… Did it work ? Hell no! But every step was worth its weight in gold just for the looks on her face.
