Yes you are right. If you do not like Cloud, then you can still use local EasyIoT server. But EasyIot Cloud service really simplifies architecture and opens opportunity for new sensors - for example remote sensors with build in GSM module. Nowadays you can buy GSM module for couple of EUR and use SIM card with flat rate. EasyIoT Cloud is rewritten from scratch and some things are simplified. In future main focus will be in sensor development. If you are using SSL communication then this is pretty safe - banking also uses it. Even your Raspberry Pi connected to internet can be hacked. 100% safe is local network not connected to internet. But then you can not access your sensors remotely.

When EasyIoT was launched you made a big statement about keeping data out of the cloud and away from snoopers, hackers, NSA etc. Why the change? Also, I see this cloud server will be a subscription service, will the Rpi server still be developed alongside the cloud version or will the cloud server eventually replace the Rpi based one? Not everyone has internet access where they need something like this! Can we run the cloud based server from our own cloud server? Can it be added using MyCloud or on a NAS of any type? Also a question about MQTT. Is this secure enough against sniffing plaintext data and replay attacks? What measures are in place to make easyiot a secure option for home automation?
