I'm using gas heating system and I plan to replace my 10 year old thermostat. Since here in Europe is almost end of the winter I do not have much time to test it this season. Maybe next year I will add more complex algorithm to control temperature or add additional electric valves on radiators. I also plan to use temperature sensor in other room to control heating system.

I have been toying with some ideas in my head to do something like this. What sort of heater do you intend this to work with? Baseboard heaters? It looks like it is using a thermostatic control algorithm (ie turning on when the temp=setpoint-hysteresis and off when temp=setpoint+hysteresis). Have you thought about/tried to implement some sort of PID algorithm using a zero cross SCR for proportional control? Adding something like that could make it very stable and avoid large swings in temperature. Cool Project!
